AI Solution Engineering Platforms for Enterprise Sales Teams

An AI solution engineering platform is software that answers a buyer’s technical questions on sales and customer calls so a human solutions engineer does not have to join every one. Today the options fall into three groups: tools that whisper sourced answers to the rep, AI participants that join the call and speak to the buyer, and demo automation that lets buyers explore the product on their own.

Disclosure: we build Proshort, whose assistant Aria privately shows reps answers during live calls. We describe other vendors from their own published pages, checked in November 2026, and link to them so you can verify. For background on the live-help category, see our guide to real-time sales assistance.

Key takeaways

  • “AI solution engineer” covers three different products: private rep assist, a buyer-facing AI participant, and asynchronous interactive demos. Decide which one you need before comparing vendors.

  • For live calls, the first question is who hears the answer. Rep-only tools keep the human in control. Buyer-facing tools speak for your company, so guardrails and approved sources matter more.

  • Post-call analysis is not live guidance. A tool that scores transcripts against your methodology helps coaching, but it does not help the rep answer a security question in minute twelve.

  • On customer success calls, live guidance helps with product and integration questions. Lifecycle management, health scores and churn operations belong to a separate CS platform.

  • Pricing is rarely published in this category. Ask for a quote tied to your real meeting volume, and model cost per call hour as well as per seat.

What is an AI solution engineering platform?

Solutions engineers (also called sales engineers or presales) carry the technical half of an enterprise sale: discovery on the buyer’s stack, demos, security reviews, integration questions and proofs of concept. They are expensive and scarce, so many first and second calls run without one, and technical questions get parked as “I’ll follow up.”

An AI solution engineering platform tries to close that gap by answering from approved company knowledge, such as product docs, security packs, battlecards and past calls. A one-sentence definition: an AI solution engineer gives every customer conversation accurate technical answers without waiting for a human SE.

The three models work very differently:

Model

How it works

Who hears the answer

Typical use

Rep assist (private)

Listens to the live call and shows the rep a sourced answer on screen

Only the rep

Discovery, demos and late-stage calls where the rep owns the relationship

AI participant (buyer-facing)

Joins as a named attendee and answers questions out loud

Everyone on the call

Technical Q&A when no SE is free

Demo automation (asynchronous)

Interactive, personalized product tours the buyer explores alone

The buyer, outside a live call

Early evaluation and sharing with stakeholders who missed the call

Which AI tools can answer a buyer’s technical questions live on a sales call?

Here is how six vendors describe their own products, checked on each vendor’s site in November 2026. We list only what their pages state.

What each does well, from their own pages: Brevian offers both a buyer-facing AI SE and a silent rep coach on one knowledge graph and lists SOC 2 Type II. 1mind lets you switch between full participation and silent listening per call. Vivun gives the widest choice of modes, from a private panel to an on-camera avatar, and shows SOC 2 and ISO 27001 badges. Aircover is built around approved sources and audit-ready answers for regulated industries. Consensus lets buyers personalize their own demo path before a live meeting.

Want to see a sourced technical answer appear while your buyer is still asking the question? Book a demo and we’ll run Aria on one of your real calls.

How should enterprise teams evaluate AI for complex technical demos?

Enterprise demos break in two places: the demo is generic, or the buyer asks something deep and the rep has no SE in the room. Supademo describes the demo automation category as “interactive, personalized product demos that run without an engineer or a live solutions engineer on every call”. That solves the first problem for asynchronous evaluation. It does not help when a buyer’s architect asks about data residency halfway through a live demo.

Score each platform on four demo criteria:

  1. Personalization. Can the demo or the answer reflect this buyer’s industry, stack and use case, or is it one script for everyone?

  2. Interactivity. Can the buyer steer, ask follow-ups and go deeper, or is it a fixed tour?

  3. Technical depth. Test with your hardest real questions: SSO, data retention, API limits, regional hosting. A vague answer in front of a security lead costs more than “let me check.”

  4. Engineer involvement per demo. Count how many demos still need a human SE after the tool is live. That number is your actual capacity gain.

Many enterprise teams combine models: demo automation for early, self-guided evaluation, and live rep assist on the calls where a human rep runs the demo.

What should you look for in real-time technical guidance on sales calls?

The key distinction is timing. Many “AI sales coach” products work after the call. One YouTube walkthrough of sales AI agents describes an AI sales coach that can “analyze sales calls and Teams meeting transcripts against your organization’s sales methodology”. That is useful for coaching, but it is post-call review. Live guidance has to arrive while the question is still on the table.

When you test live tools, check these on real calls, not a scripted demo:

  • Speed. Does the answer land before the buyer finishes the follow-up?

  • Sources. Does every answer show where it came from, such as a doc, security pack or won call, so the rep can trust it?

  • Visibility. Is the guidance private to the rep, or does the AI speak? If it speaks, can you restrict topics and switch it off per call?

  • Freshness. How quickly do new releases, pricing changes and security updates reach the answers?

  • Consent. How are participants notified that the call is recorded or assisted, and does it follow one-party and two-party rules by location?

Are there AI platforms that work as a live solution engineer during customer success calls?

Yes, for call-level help. The same live tools that answer a prospect’s integration question can answer a customer’s question in onboarding, a QBR or a renewal call, because they draw on the same product knowledge. Proshort’s Aria, Brevian and Vivun all join standard meeting platforms, so the call type does not matter to the tool.

Be clear about where that stops. The AI Agent Index notes that “the platforms in this category range from enterprise-grade CS operating systems” such as Gainsight and Totango, to mid-market tools and relationship-intelligence specialists. Those platforms manage the post-sale lifecycle: health scores, playbooks, renewals forecasting and churn signals across every account. A live AI solution engineer does not do that job.

How to choose an AI solution engineering platform

  1. Name the gap. Is it live technical questions on calls, demo coverage, or post-sale support? Pick the model first.

  2. Decide who should hear the AI. Rep-only keeps your seller in control. A speaking AI needs strict topic limits and buyer comfort with an AI attendee.

  3. Bring your hardest 20 questions. Run them through each tool and grade accuracy and source quality.

  4. Check platform coverage. Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex or phone, matched to where your buyers meet.

  5. Confirm CRM fit. Which CRM does it read deal context from and write back to: Salesforce, HubSpot or both?

  6. Review security and consent. Ask for SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 reports and the participant notification flow. Our security checklist for sales call AI lists the questions.

  7. Model the cost on real volume. Get pricing per seat and per call hour for your actual meeting count, not a list price.

  8. Measure SE hours saved. Track how many calls still need a human SE after 30 days.

Where Proshort fits (and where it does not)

Proshort is a rep-assist platform. Aria joins Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams calls from Google Calendar or Outlook and privately puts the answer, the proof point and the next question in front of the rep, with a sourced answer in under a second. Answers come from your battlecards, docs, website and won calls, and each one shows its source. The buyer sees no prompts and installs nothing, and the rep decides what to say.

When a competitor comes up, Aria shows the rep differentiators and proof from won deals (AI battlecards), and it offers tested answers to objections live. Recaps and follow-ups wait for the rep’s approval, and it works with Salesforce and HubSpot. Proshort is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified, applies consent rules by state and country, and notifies every recorded participant before the call starts (security). Pricing is published: $75 per rep per month plus $3 per call hour, only on calls Aria joins (pricing).

Where it does not fit: Aria does not speak to the buyer, so if you want an AI attendee that answers out loud, look at Brevian, 1mind or Vivun’s Voice mode. It is not a demo automation tool for self-guided product tours, and it is not a customer success platform for health scores and lifecycle management.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI solution engineering platform?

An AI solution engineering platform is software that does part of a solutions engineer’s job: answering technical product questions, handling security and integration questions, and supporting demos. Some tools whisper answers privately to the rep, some join the call and speak to the buyer, and some run interactive demos the buyer watches without anyone live.

Can AI answer a buyer’s technical questions live on a sales call?

Yes. Rep-assist tools such as Proshort’s Aria, Brevian Live Assist and Vivun’s Whisper mode show the rep a sourced answer during the call. Buyer-facing tools such as Brevian’s AI Sales Engineer and 1mind Ride-Along join as a named participant and answer the buyer out loud.

Does an AI solution engineer replace human solutions engineers?

Not for complex enterprise deals. These tools handle repeat technical questions and first-call coverage so human SEs can focus on architecture reviews, proofs of concept and custom demos. Treat them as extra SE capacity rather than a headcount swap.

Can these tools work on customer success calls?

Live call guidance works on any customer call, including onboarding, QBRs and renewals, because the job is the same: answer product questions accurately in the moment. It does not replace a customer success platform that manages health scores, lifecycle stages and churn signals across accounts.

How much does an AI solution engineering platform cost?

Few vendors in this category publish prices. Brevian says it prices by meeting volume, and 1mind, Aircover, Vivun and Consensus point buyers to sales. Proshort publishes its pricing: $75 per rep per month plus $3 per call hour for live assistance on the calls you choose.
